How to Promote OnlyFans on X: The Two-Account Method

Blog Post Written By: Melrose Michaels

In January 2026, X did something no major platform has done for adult creators before: it published its complete recommendation algorithm on GitHub, where anyone can read it.

If you want to promote OnlyFans on X, that code release changed how you will accomplish this part of your business... this code explains why so many adult creators watched their growth flatline, and it points directly at the strategy that works now.

In this blog post I am covering what the code says, why a single account can no longer do the whole job and the two-account method that has become the standard play..

what X's published algorithm says about adult content

X sorts sensitive content into three tiers: sensitive, adult and explicit. Under the Adult Content Creator program that launched in January 2026, creators verify their identity, certify their labeling and tag every adult post at the correct tier.

Here is the line that matters: content labeled "adult" or "explicit" is excluded from the

"for you" feed entirely. It does not mean that it is shown less often, it means that it never enters the recommendation pool at all... labeled adult content reaches the people who already follow you and nobody else. point, period, blank.

Two more findings from the code and the data around it shape everything else:

First, links in a post body cost roughly 30% to 50% of reach, and non-premium accounts have it worse... the standard workaround is a clean main post with the link in the first reply.

Second, replies are the strongest engagement signal in the system, with bookmarks and profile clicks close behind (likes barely move reach at all)

why one account cannot do both jobs

Every creator account on X is trying to do two things: 1. get discovered by strangers, which happens through "for you" and 2. convert followers into paying subscribers (which for adult creators means posting the content that earns the label)

The code makes those two jobs mutually exclusive on a single account. The moment your account posts labeled adult content, the content that converts, it loses access to the discovery feed, and the damage compounds...

accounts repeatedly flagged for sensitive media get auto-labeled on everything they post afterward, regardless of what is in it. At that point even your cleanest content is invisible to strangers, permanently.. this is why so many talented creators with strong engagement watch their follower counts freeze for years..

the two-account method

The answer is two accounts with one job each, handing off to each other.

The SFW reach account is your discovery engine - it stays completely clean from its first post: no nudity, no adult labels, no adult links, no naming your paid platform anywhere. It runs personality content, opinions, lifestyle, humor and soft thirst carried by confidence and words rather than skin.. because it never gives X a reason to label it, it keeps full access to "for you", and it carries the entire top of your funnel.

The NSFW conversion account is your existing adult account - enrolled in the Adult Content Creator program with every post labeled honestly at the correct tier. It holds your warm audience, your teases, your offers and the path to your paid platform. Its links live in the bio and in first replies, never in post bodies... it does not grow from cold discovery, it grows because the clean account feeds it.

the clean account rulebook

The clean account only works if it stays clean, and the line sits further back than most creators think...

post freely: fully clothed photos and video, personality and voice, opinions and stories, flirty energy carried by words over a clothed photo.

never post: nudity of any kind, sexual acts or implied sexual activity, explicit captions (X runs a text classifier, so a clean photo with an explicit caption still gets flagged) and anything adult in the profile picture or banner.

treat the gray zone as off limits here too: lingerie, very revealing swimwear, towel and sheet shots, implied-nude framing. On your adult account a sensitivity flag costs nothing.

on the clean account, repeated flags are exactly what triggers account-level labeling, the pattern is the threat, not the single post..

how to bridge the two accounts without killing your reach

The handoff is where most creators sabotage themselves because the algorithm learns from the engagement graph, meaning it learns who engages with whom. A clean account that constantly quotes and retweets its adult sibling teaches the model to seat them together, and the clean account's general reach slowly erodes.

The working rules:

1. let a bio mention and one pinned post do the constant pointing. Both are passive, they do not feed the engagement graph the way active engagement does.

2. point, do not embed... never quote an actual tweet from the adult account in your pinned post. The adult account carries a user-level sensitivity flag, so the quoted card renders behind a sensitivity screen for most viewers.

3. ration active cross-engagement hard. quote tweets or retweets of your adult account once or twice a month at most, soft references about once a week, everything combined under roughly 5% of your posts.

4. keep the bio link SFW. A text pointer to your adult handle - never a clickable adult link or aggregator on the clean account.

what to do this week

1. audit your current account honestly, and if it has adult labels or a flag history, accept that it is your conversion account and stop expecting discovery from it

2. stand up the clean account and keep it spotless from the get-go

3. move every link on both accounts out of post bodies and into first replies or bios

4. set the bridge: bio mention, one pinned post in clean language, active cross-promo rationed to rare

5. post consistently (roughly 3 to 5 posts a day on the clean account) and stay present for the first 15 to 20 minutes after posting, because early replies decide how far a post travels.

Keep your head up, we are built for this, and we are resilient. The creators who win the next stretch on X will not be the loudest ones, they will be the ones read the rules, and used them to their advantage.
