Happy New Year! As we step into 2025, it’s the perfect time to set new goals for your adult creator business. But here's a tip: the average creator isn’t reverse engineering their goals to find success. So today, I want to dive deep into how you can reverse engineer your goals to ensure you hit them.
Narrowing Down and Setting Realistic Goals
Step 1: Narrow Down Your Goals
Let's face it—many of us get overly ambitious with our goal-setting. Like me, you probably have a list of 50 things you want to achieve. But trying to focus on so many goals can make you feel overwhelmed and discouraged. To combat that, I narrow down my goals to three core objectives that will have the most significant impact on my business.
For example, one of our core goals at Sex Work CEO this year is to grow our YouTube channel (subscribe 💕). Limiting yourself to three to five critical goals allows you to focus your energy and resources more effectively.
Step 2: Create an Actionable Plan
Once you’ve identified your core goals, the next step is to outline actionable steps to achieve them. If our objective is to grow the YouTube channel, what are the clear, actionable steps we can take? The obvious one is to produce more content. More videos mean more opportunities to capture the audience’s interest and drive subscriptions.
Step 3: Set Specific Metrics
With your actionable steps in place, it’s time to define specific metrics. Metrics are crucial because they provide a target to aim for and a way to track progress. For us, one of our metrics is to reach 10,000 YouTube subscribers by the end of 2025. Since we already have 7,500 subscribers, that means we need 2,500 more.
Step 4: Break It Down into Baby Steps
Dividing your big goals into smaller, manageable parts makes them less daunting and more achievable. Using our YouTube example, we need 2,500 new subscribers. Dividing this number by the 12 months of the year, we find that we need to add approximately 208 new subscribers each month. Break it down further by weeks, and that’s about 52 new subscribers per week. Cut it down even more by the five workdays of the week, and we’re aiming for around 11 new subscribers every day.
Step 5: Implement and Monitor
With your goals narrowed down, actionable steps outlined, and specific metrics set, you’re ready to implement your plan. For instance, to achieve our daily target of 11 new subscribers, I might send direct messages to creators asking them to subscribe, make promotional posts across social channels, and engage with our closed community in CEO Society.
Applying This Formula to Other Goals
The beauty of this approach is its versatility. You can apply this method to almost any goal you set as a creator. Want to grow your OnlyFans subscriber base? Determine the total number of new subscribers you want for the year, then break it down by month, week, and day. The same logic applies to revenue goals. If you aim to increase your monthly revenue, use the same strategy to figure out how many new subscribers or sales you need.
One practical tip is to write down these baby steps on index cards or post-it notes. Place these notes where you can see them every day. Or, use a task planner like Asana to track your daily, weekly, and monthly milestones. This way, you'll always know what steps you need to take to stay on track.
Embrace Reverse Engineering
Reverse engineering your goals by narrowing them down, creating actionable steps, setting specific metrics, breaking those metrics into baby steps, and consistently implementing your plan makes achieving big goals feel attainable. This method has not only helped me grow my channels and business but has also instilled confidence in knowing exactly how to tackle each objective.
