A Tale of Two Conferences: XBIZ Los Angeles vs. AVN Las Vegas

Updated: Feb 8

Blog Post Written By: Melrose Michaels

Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to attend two of the most prominent conferences in the adult entertainment industry: XBIZ Los Angeles and AVN Las Vegas. As many of you know, I hosted my first-ever in-person SexWorkCEO workshop at these events, and I must say, it was an overwhelming success. In this blog, I want to share with you a glimpse into the experiences and insights gained from these conferences.

The SexWorkCEO Workshop: Empowering Creators

Traditional conferences often feature speaking panels and seminars, offering valuable insights from industry professionals. However, I wanted to create something different—a hands-on, interactive workshop where creators could leave not only with information but also tangible results. The workshop focused on actionable strategies for creators to monetize their content effectively.

Despite my initial nervousness, attendees enthusiastically embraced the workshop's interactive format. By the end of the session, creators had not only gained valuable knowledge but also made money implementing the strategies discussed—a testament to the power of action and belief in oneself.

XBIZ Los Angeles Recap: Insights and Opportunities

XBIZ Los Angeles offered a plethora of valuable seminars and panels, including discussions on exit strategies in the industry—an essential topic often overlooked by creators. It was heartening to see industry leaders like Corey Silverstein emphasize the importance of preparing for the future and treating content as a valuable asset.

Additionally, AYLO's seminar provided a platform for constructive dialogue between creators and the new leadership of Pornhub, acknowledging past mistakes and committing to positive change—a promising step forward for the industry.

Networking opportunities at XBIZ were abundant, highlighting the importance of building relationships and exploring potential collaborations for future growth.

AVN Expo: A Vibrant Showcase of Industry Innovation

Attending the AVN Expo in Las Vegas was a new experience for me, marked by valuable interactions with creators, exhibitors, and industry leaders. The event showcased the dynamic nature of the industry, with established studios drawing crowds of eager fans and emerging entrepreneurs carving out their niche with innovative business models.

Another point to consider is how big creators are collaborating with smaller creators that they have launched to their fan base. You can also do the same by promoting other creators to your audience and making money off a fan's spend on that performer or creator. This is the same philosophy and strategy that bigger, more well-known creators are using on a larger scale. As an independent creator, you can start building your affiliate business now and incorporate this strategy into it, even without being a huge performer.

At the Motorbunny booth, I had the pleasure of connecting with fans and fellow creators, reinforcing the impact of SexWorkCEO and the importance of community support.

Networking at AVN's Crystal Bar provided invaluable opportunities for meaningful conversations and potential collaborations, underscoring the significance of relationship-building in this dynamic industry.

Looking Ahead: TES Affiliate Summit and Building a Community

As I reflect on the insights gained from XBIZ and AVN, I'm excited to announce my upcoming attendance at the TES Affiliate Summit in Lisbon, Portugal—a testament to my commitment to continuous learning and growth within the industry.

In addition, I'm actively exploring the idea of launching a closed community for creators—a safe space where transparent access to valuable resources and support can thrive. This initiative aims to address the challenges of deplatforming and foster a strong, resilient community of creators. If you want to be part of the community when it launches, comment on this tweet to get a personal invitation.

In closing, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended the conferences and supported SexWorkCEO at our XBIZ Workshop. Your presence and engagement fuel our mission and inspire us to continue empowering creators worldwide.

Stay tuned for more updates and announcements! Together, we can elevate the adult entertainment industry and create a brighter future for all.
